PermaShare - A permaculture platform for sharing skills and knowledge locally

Join PermaShare
PermaShare is a place to find like-minded people who have knowledge, skills and labour to exchange in a ‘fair share’ arrangement, consistent with the ethics of permaculture. You can register information about yourself, including what you can teach, what you are seeking to learn or what you will exchange for knowledge. This model has generosity at its heart, with people trusting that their contributions will be valued, and that sharing will happen in a way that benefits everyone. You can search by keywords and/or location to find people who might match what you are seeking.

Exchange Knowledge for Energy
All sharing will involve a bit of both, and we ask you to identify yourself as predominantly:
      Wise - if you mostly intend to share knowledge or skills in return for labour, or;
      Energetic - if you mostly intend to share labour in return for learning.

Building Local Communities
PermaShare is designed to encourage people to act locally when they exchange knowledge and energy. This will reduce the ecological footprint of the model (earth care) and help to build resilient, diverse communities (people care). Initially we’ll be building this platform within our own local area, the NSW Central Coast in Australia. We hope to expand the platform organically over time.

Our Story
As we have grown older and wiser, we recognise the need for help with some of the more labour-intensive tasks on our property, and in exchange we provide small-group coaching in permaculture. Instead of charging money for our knowledge, we exchange learning for labour. We see this as a reflection of permaculture principles, as we value a student's time and effort on the same basis as our time and knowledge, with an hour of work earning an hour of teaching. This model also gives people a way to participate in permaculture training without paying money. The model is based on indigenous traditions of elders being valued by the tribe for their wisdom, and young people being valued for their fitness and enthusiasm.
We are all one tribe.

We welcome you to our permanent culture of sharing.
